Until just a few years ago Playa Blanca was a small fishing village and a gateway for the boat going across to Fuertaventura from its small Port. Most visitors to Playa Blanca came to enjoy the lovely beaches of the area, notably the coves of Papagayo. This had long been the target of a number of hippy types who wanted to live in a hedonistic way for a few months of the year and would shake up in one of the caves above the beach. The hippies have gone and the caves are now empty, the present day visitor now prefers stay in one of the many quality hotel or apartment complexes in the area

The small, Playa Blanca beach is located in the middle of the village and is overlooked by typical, Canarian restaurants. For children of different age groups, Kikoland has a multitude of fun on offer, including an amphitheatre, a sports area, a football club, animation, organised activities and a bar from which parents can supervise. The neighbouring Playa Dorada is the resorts largest beach, with sea front restaurants and water sports.
